Andhra Bank ATM In Jaipur

Andhra Bank is an Indian nationalised commercial bank, founded in 1923 by Dr.Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya. The Bank has 1,179 branches as of September, 2005. Andhra Bank is the pioneer in introducing Credit Cards in India during the early eighties.

The bank is No 1 in Asia for "return on capital" and has moved up the world ranking by 277 notches to reach 683rd global ranking". This is as per information by The Banker of London, a member of the Financial Times Group of Business Publications, of July and August 2005.

It has 130,000 shareholders, 13.72 million customers and 13,922 employees spread across the length and breadth of the country (India).

It is a "Government of India undertaking", reflecting the reality that it is one of the major (and traditionally, more stable) banks run by the Government of India since banking in the country was "nationalised" in the late 'sixties. Of late however, a number of private banks have entered the field, many with foreign collaborations, and have offered tough competition to the nationalised, larger banks.
