Tata Safari

Hindustan Motors is an automobile manufacturer from India. It is part of the Birla group of industries.

It is the producer of the famous Ambassador car, widely used as a taxicab and as a government limousine. One of the original three car manufacturers in India, founded in 1942, it was a leader in car sales until the 1980s, when the industry was opened up from protection.

Hindustan has a joint venture with Mitsubishi, producing versions of the Lancer and Pajero, but is best known for its own models.

Tata Safari with a 2.2L DiCOR engine that produces a power output of 140 PS and a maximum torque of 320 Nm. The car now gets in straight competition with the Scorpio 2.2L CRDe, Ford Endeavor, and to some extent Toyota Innova. The Tata’s new styling cues shall also be following up in th new Sumo that shall soon be unveiled somewhere later.

The newness of the car is clearly visible. New headlight clusters, new grille with a chrome line running in between, new bumper guards and spare wheel cover with some chrome on it. We Indians love chrome, don’t we and Tata’s given it so. The Safari is one of the few cars (SUV) in India that have a great stance look. The new car just enhances the feeling. The car’s redesigned body parts say it all. The car looks much better and more aggressive in looks. Tata has worked on the interiors too, and the car now comes with two tone beige interiors and leather seats.

The car as said before comes with a 32 Bit Electronically Controlled, 2.2 L 16 Valve DOHC VTT DiCOR engine, (VTT for Variable Turbine Technology and DiCOR for Direct Injection Common Rail), producing a max power output of 140 PS @ 4000 rpm and a max torque of 320Nm @ 1700-2700 rpm. Read the rest of the Specifications here on the Safari DiCOR website.

The new 2.2 L DiCOR engine is equipped with a specially designed turbocharger using Variable Turbine Technology (VTT). The technology provides flexibility in controlling engine air requirements over various speed ranges and load range, with an eye on power and torque requirements and fuel efficiency.

The car which comes with an improved warranty of 2 years or 75,000 kms (whichever earlier), has a whole new features that are introduced like Follow-me-home, Parking lot car-locator and Tubeless Tyres Follow-me-home is the feature in which you can turn on the headlights with a remote key for 30 seconds after you have shut the engine and are out of the car and the Parking lot car – locator brings on the roof light, which stays on for 5 seconds before fading out, just to enable you locating the car in a dark Parking lot. Two important features that are on board the new Safari are ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD and Dual Airbags, which are quite essential and must haves. The car has a whole lot list of accessories that are available, wont list them out here, but check them out on the Official Website Accessories page.
